ART and PHOTO SHOW
The Irish Fair invites Artist and Photographer’s to display and sell the works at the fair. A gallery area will be set aside within the fair for the works to be displayed.
The fair wishes to promote the efforts of Irish, Irish-American and American Artists whose work include an Irish and Celtic themes.
We do distinguish between“Exhibiting Artist”, those showing and selling their own works and “Producing Artist”, those selling Prints and producing high volume sales. These artist are considered Vendors and must apply as such. ( see detailed rule below or in PDF printable form.
For Exhibiting Artist there is no fee except a 10% charge on what you sell. You are expected to provide your own tables and chairs and other items that the Guidelines call for.
The Art of Ireland is unique and needs to be shown and as anyone who has been to Ireland knows, the landscape was created by the greatest artist of all. So bring your work and show it off where it belongs,

CHILDRENS DELIGHT IN LEPRECHAUN KINGDOM
A larger-than-life Blarney Castle balloon jump opens the gateway to Leprechaun Kingdom, a magic world of little people, costumed story-tellers, Kildare pony rides, games of golden chance and more for the little lads and lassies in your clan.
TRADITIONAL IRISH FOODS
The Irish Fair chefs will prepare Irish and American foods, with special emphasis on traditional Irish "pub grub" of corned beef sandwiches, Irish sausage rolls, and scones will delight the appetite. Irish tea shops will offer "old country" hospitality along with delicious Irish soda bread and teas and, of course, your favorite libations and Irish stouts will be readily at hand.
IRISH FAIR MARKETPLACE Over 100 Irish Import and gift shop vendors, along with the unique handmade wares of old world artisans, will line the gaily decorated O’Connell Street and Grafton Street market places and Tara Village, making for a shopper’s dream. Irish crystal, Beleek china, claddagh jewelry of every description, hand woodcarvings, imported Irish breads, pastries and candy, fine Irish lace, and much, much more will all be found at the Irish Fair Marketplace
SPORTS at the FAIR The athletic field will host an array of sporting activities that will include Irish Hurling, a fast and often dangerous game that dates back to the ancient Celts. Played with a hard rawhide ball and long sticks, the players move across a soccer- sized field attempting to score points by hurling the ball into the opposing team’s net. Nothing is more exciting than watching the players leap high in the air for the ball and clash their hurlies.
Gaelic Football, a game played by the Irish long before soccer was invented, is very much like its young counterpart, but even more exciting.

IRISH DOG SHOW “The king of dogs and the dog of kings.”
On display will be Irish Terriers, Irish Setters, Irish Kerry Blues, Irish Water Spaniels, and of course the Irish Wolfhounds in the largest exhibition of all-breeds Irish Dog Show in western America. Specially featured is the Irish Wolfhound, “The king of dogs and the dog of kings.”
We will begin Saturday with 10:00 a.m. lure practice runs -- each Hound is welcome to try and we'll find ways to encourage each one. This is a special request to see our Hounds run as only they can......
The sport of coursing-the pursuit of swift game by swift hounds- has been done sine the days of the ancient Egyptians. Not just a pleasurable pastime of the Pharaohs and other royalty, coursing also provided food for the table and eliminated predators.
Bare Knuckle Irish Stout at the Fair
Unbelievable! I tried a pint of this new brew from AB, with a couple of Irish expatriots, at John D. McGurk's, about a half mile from the brewery in St. Louis. This is the real deal and compares quite favorably to Guinness. Certainly fresher than the Guinness or Beamish that we're able to get in the States, the flavor was much more complex than either imported stout. Don't let the thin nature of AB's popular beers prejudice you, as I was.

The De Lorean DMC-12 is a sports car that was manufactured by the De Lorean Motor Company for the American market in 1981 and 1982 in Northern Ireland. It is most commonly known simply as the De Lorean, as it was the only model ever produced by the company. The DMC-12 featured gull-wing doors with a fiberglass "underbody", to which non-structural brushed stainless steel panels were affixed. A De Lorean was featured as a home-made time machine in the Back to the Future trilogy.

The Irish Fair is located in the beautiful Irvine Meadows Fairgrounds. It offers a tree shaded pathway that wanders around a large lake with a number of small islands in it. There are many benches and resting places where one can just sit and enjoy the music and views. There is also a large sporting field where Irish sports are played. It is a most delightful setting.

CHILDRENS DELIGHT IN LEPRECHAUN KINGDOM
Leprechaun Kingdom, a magic world of costumed story-tellers, pony rides, face painting, and more. And this year we will present a “Red Headed” and “Freckled Face Kid” and an “Irish Baby” contest each day. An to be sure, every contestant will come out a winner. Now we aren’t about to let all the kids have the fun, each day on the Shamrock Bowl Stage there will be “A knobby Knees” contest. This contest is open to men and women, though I don’t know how many women will vie for the title.

Although the need for it as a means of survival was eliminated with the advances of civilization, it continues to flourish as a modern-day sport because of its timeless appeal. Coursing remains the same breathtaking spectacle it has been for thousands of years, and it is filled with the excitement of beautiful hounds exerting themselves to the limit. In lure coursing, the lure is several white plastic bags tied to a line attached to a machine made from a starter motor. The lure is dragged at between 35 and 40 mph across a pre-arranged course or a continuous loop course. The course is setup to simulate the way in which a rabbit would run. There are 90 degree turns, long straight-aways and even crossovers in the course.
